Amberspire
Amberspire is a science fantasy dice city builder. Construct buildings, manage resources, and build in harmony with an alien ecology. Your city will prosper beneath the glow of a gas giant, atop the ruins of an abandoned moon.
Dice are at the heart of the game, and represent many things. Each turn you’ll assemble a pool of dice from the buildings in your city and roll them to generate resources. Those resources are used to construct new buildings and operate others to gain influence or affect the environment.
A mausoleum moon creates a strange ecology. Viscous fluids move around in small flooding pockets. The fine metallic soils can bloom into fields of rust. Clouds of dense gas from the planet form into dense pockets of fog. Fields of tough, grass-like sprouts of silica uproot everything around them. And the surface itself, brittle and pockmarked, reveals a chasm below. Each cycle the moon rolls its weather dice to determine how the environment responds.
The population of your city is both vital and somewhat out of your control – they will expand according to the geography of your city, but can be quickly overrun by the environment. Factions also have influence on your city, with various events in your city and the solar system affecting whether they favor you or have the strength to impose their will. Events will appear and roll dice to determine an outcome, but you can expend influence to modify the potential results.
Design Diaries
Like with The Banished Vault I have written extensively on Amberspire as we have worked on it. Roughly every few weeks I’ll be posting an entry as I talk more about the game and how the design progressed. The first entry is live now!
